EXPLORATION HUB SERVICES
EXPLORATION HUB SERVICES
At GeoPool Exploration Hub, we provide mineral exploration and mining companies with a comprehensive range of technical services tailored to customer needs. Our streamlined drill core preparation, geological logging, surveying, core cutting as well as sample transportation and storage workflows ensure efficient and transparent, high-quality data collection at every step of the exploration process.
In mineral exploration, the quality of your data matters. Even minor errors in drill core processing can affect the reliability of your assay data and, ultimately, your geological models. Our team of experienced geologists and geotechnicians delivers the precision and care needed to ensure your data is accurate, reliable, and ready for confident decision-making.

Drill core logging facilities
At GeoPool Exploration Hub, we offer fully equipped, private drill core logging facilities designed to support efficient and secure exploration workflows. Our clients benefit from exclusive access to dedicated logging space that ensures a transparent and traceable chain of custody throughout the core handling process. Located within the same building, our office space allows for seamless management of field, core logging, and sample processing operations.
To further accelerate your project timeline, GeoPool’s experienced geologists and geotechnicians are available to assist with geotechnical and geological core logging, sampling, and data collection. At GeoPool Exploration Hub, we also provide drill core cutting and sample logistics services, as well as short- and long-term sample storage solutions for maximum efficiency.
Key features of our core logging facility:
- Capacity for 150 core boxes on three angled and two flat 16m roller tables
- Essential logging tools provided on-site: hand lenses, scribers, pencil magnets, markers, sample tags, angle irons, kenometers
- Advanced data collection instruments available for rental: magnetic susceptibility/conductivity meters; portable XRF, LIBS and hyperspectral analysers; hardness, density, and point-load testers
- Casper high-resolution photographing unit for accurate and consistent drill core photography
- Solutions for ergonomic core box lifting and handling
- Pallet storage under flat tables to optimise space and improve workflow during active drilling campaigns

Soil sample logging facilities
GeoPool Exploration Hub provides a purpose-built soil sample logging facility, located directly adjacent to our core logging space and conveniently separated by a turning door for quick access and efficient workflow. This close proximity enables seamless cooperation of diamond drilling, base-of-till (BoT), and top-of-bedrock (ToB) sampling campaigns, supporting multi-method exploration operations under one roof. Depending on availability, the space can also be rented separately.
Key features of our soil sample logging facility:
- Custom-designed soil sample logging station, equipped with mounted lighting and an integrated camera unit for sample documentation
- Essential logging tools provided on-site: water containers, sieves, brushes, hand lens, hand magnet, stereomicroscope
- Advanced data collection instruments available for rental: MagSusc meter, bench-mounted pXRF analyzer, LIBS analyser
- Ample shelf space for organised drying and temporary storage of soil samples
- On-site water inlets to support efficient sample washing and cleaning

Rapid geochemical, mineralogical and petrophysical point measurements
GeoPool offers a suite of portable point measurement instruments that deliver fast, systematic data on the geochemical composition, mineralogy, or petrophysical properties of rocks. These instruments support consistent, more accurate drill core logging and can also be used on grab samples to guide early-stage exploration.
Stand-alone measurement campaigns are especially powerful when working with historical drill cores, where available assay data is often limited. With our surveying instruments, your team can efficiently generate continuous inputs critical for 3D modelling and resource estimation.
Our team of experts will help you plan your measurement campaign, recommending the best sample preparation and QAQC practices to obtain high-quality datasets. We also assist with data interpretation, turning raw readings into clear geological insights.
Available point measurement instruments:
- Niton XL5 portable XRF analyser with optional bench-top workstation for standard rapid geochemical analysis
- SciAps Z903 hand-held LIBS analyser, ideal for detecting light elements such as Li and Na
- ASD Halo portable hyperspectral analyser in the VNIR-SWIR region
- ASD TerraSpec4 hyperspectral VNIR-SWIR analyser, ideal for point measurement campaigns on drill core
- KT-10 magnetic susceptibility and conductivity meter, a field-proven standard in drilling projects
- Equotip 550 hardness tester with Leeb D probe head

Density and point load measurements
As exploration project advances toward development, understanding the geomechanical properties of the deposit becomes increasingly important. Point load testing, combined with structural models and RQD or Q’ data, provides essential input for mine design and rock stability assessments. Similarly, accurate density measurements are a key requirement for producing compliant resource estimates.
At GeoPool Exploration Hub, we offer efficient and reliable density and point load testing integrated with drill core logging and other data collection. Gathering density data early in the exploration phase supports the development of preliminary resource models in line with international reporting codes, strengthening your funding proposals for the follow-up work.

Drill core cutting and sample preparation
At GeoPool Exploration Hub, we provide comprehensive solutions for the entire core sample processing workflow. Our semi-automated, horizontal core saw allows us to cut 80 to 100 metres of drill core per day, delivering consistent progress with high sample throughput. As part of the process, we handle the QAQC measures and pack the samples securely, ensuring the samples are ready for laboratory analysis with full traceability.
Our facility also includes a manual rock saw, ideal for trimming grab samples or preparing rock slabs for thin section analysis. The rock saw can be used alongside the core saw for precise sample cutting at specified intervals.
All cutting is carried out by our skilled geotechnicians. With the cutting room located within the same yard as our core logging facilities, the entire cutting and sampling process is easy to manage and supervise on-site.

Sample storage and logistics
GeoPool Exploration Hub offers reliable storage and logistics solutions to support all stages of exploration. Our site includes three cold storage facilities with a combined floor area of approximately 2400 m², designed to accommodate a wide range of sample types.
Drill core pallets are typically stacked for space efficiency, while selected storage areas feature racking systems designed to store fragile or high-value materials. Our experienced geotechnicians assist in selecting the best storage method and ensure compliance with regulations. Access is restricted to maintain security and preserve the chain of custody.
We also manage logistics for exploration samples across the Nordic region. After logging and processing at GeoPool Exploration Hub, samples can be quickly transported to analytical labs in Sodankylä, streamlining the workflow from field to results.
